Registration Now Open, Plus Free Stuff

What a free T-shirt might look like, if it weren’t a drawing of a t-shirt.

Drumroll, please!  Registration for Expedition Encampment 2013 is now open!

And you can do it right now.  Since you’re on the internet reading this, you can go here and register right now.

This is a large improvement over how we do it in the YSH (Yeti Scouts of the Himalayas). It would require ice, chisels, and a 271 mile hike with a 23,000 foot elevation change.  You, on the other hand, can go right here and get registered now!  No hiking. No endless hours of chiseling the names on ice blocks. None of that!

The other benefit is that if you are among the first 250 registered, you will receive a free special edition t-Shirt!  I do not believe they come in Yeti sizes, but they do come in most human sizes.

Moving to Kansas

Whew!  It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to post – when you’re moving all of your stuff from Tibet to Kansas, sometimes it’s hard to find a good place to get Wi-Fi, plus my keyboard is TINY.  It was a normal sized keyboard, but I’ve got these huge yeti fingers, so I had to order a custom yeti-sized keyboard.  Without it, I’d type like a yeti with a small keyboard.  Which, I think I’ve established, is quite slow.

It’s a longer walk than you might guess to get here to Kansas, but it’s worth it – I’ve been selected to be the mascot for Encampment 2013.  I’m not sure how they selected me, but yet the e-mail showed up and I’m certainly honored!  Encampment 2013 is going to happen on April 19-21, 2013 at the State Fairground in Hutchinson.  Okay, you’re asking why I’m talking about Encampment now, it’s more than a year away – well the answer is that when you’re planning a big event like this, you start to get excited.  Pretty soon you’ll be able to register!

My American cousin Sasquatch is pretty cool and has his own action figure, too!

The other thing that’s gotten me excited is that I’ve finally gotten my Bobcat Badge and my Tiger Badge!  You might think I’m a little old for that, but as mascot for Encampment, I’m going to try to work my way as far as I can through Scouting before Encampment starts.  They’ve given me special permission to go to Scout Camps and Cub Day Camps, too, so expect to see me this summer!

I don’t think I’d feel good about earning the Yeti Merit Badge – it’s a little too much like earning a Merit Badge for breathing.

Earning Merit Badges for My Sash

I'm so excited about the WATC Merit Badge College that is coming up. I've been working on the Snow Sports and Wilderness Survival merit badges for some time now. But, I keep losing my blue cards, and I have to start the merit badges all over again. My Yetimaster just shakes his head and hands me another blue card. I wonder what the world record is for the most times a Scout has had to restart the same merit badge.

Merit Badge College at WATC

Hey Eddie,

I am looking forward to seeing you on both WATC campuses next Saturday, Feb. 25th, for the Annual Merit Badge College! Are you going to work on any MB's next week?

Eddie the Yeti's First Blog Post !!

OK . . . I'm going to see if I can figure this blog thing out. So, here I am, Eddie the Yeti, making my first post. By the way, what's a post? Isn't that something you use to build a fence? Back home, when I can't find a tree, I sometimes have to use a fence post to scratch my hairy back.

I paid a visit to the High Plains Roundtable last night on my quest to visit all of the local Scout Roundtables.  I met some new folks and passed on some information about the upcoming Expedition Encampment in April 2013!
